Welcome..
My Artistic Background
I was brought up in West Sussex and lucky enough to see the South Downs, Devil’s Dyke and Chichester Harbour at an early age. These scenes have remained with me and have been the inspiration for my watercolours and oil paintings. Additionally, I have visited beautiful scenic areas of the South of England including Cornwall, Lulworth Cove in Dorset, and the Isle of Wight.
Since my Fine art BA Degree at Winchester School of Art and Fine Art MA Degree at Brighton University, I have continually revisited Sussex and other breathtaking locations, and have painted seascapes and landscapes at every opportunity. Additionally, I am teaching Fine Art to adults at a Further Education College, the Working Men’s College in Camden Town, a college Ruskin established in 1854.
In my watercolours I want to capture the visionary presence of a place. I feel that I can only achieve this by working from life and not from photos. This ensures that the light, atmosphere and colour will still breathe life into the watercolour and oil painting scenes.
I hope that you enjoy viewing the scenes!
